Desk

I want a fairly basic desk. It should be of a standard size and depth. The table should be removable so it can be moved in pieces. It should have one file drawer, one center drawer, and a bunch of basic drawers. Nothing fancy: no locks, no computer compartments, no modesty panel.

The desk should be made of three units: the top section and two drawer columns. They should attach sturdily but be easily removable.

The drawer columns should be free standing and have sturdy feet. Four 2x2 feet per column. The drawer fronts should be fairly basic. I'm not a fan of ball-bearing slides. The front of the column should be hardwood, using mortise and tenon joints. The sides and back of the column should be veneer plywood. The sides and back should be supported by wide 1x4 rails.

The top should be veneer plywood with a hardwood edge. The center drawer will be mounted to the underside of the top. The underside of the top will also have two rail squares mounted to it. These will fit into the tops of the drawer columns and be screwed in place. Machine screws would be nice here.

Black Finish

Oh, wow, wouldn't it be nice to have an ebony finished ash desk with silver hardware? Either stainless steel, or even actual silver.

Craft Table

I didn't post this image in here because I propose using it for a desk. I just think it is a neat piece of furniture. Perhaps someday, when I have a big house with nothing to put in it, I will consider making something like this.
