Computer Center

If I decide to stay in this house, I need to build a computer center. It will border the wall on three sides, forming a "pit" for me to sit in, and providing access to four workstations. There should be a place for my Windows workstation, my FreeBSD workstation, a Mac Pro, and a place for my laptop.

Even though the drawing above shows it that way, the workstations will not be spaced out every 90°, but closer together to allow the "mouth" of the center to be comfortably wide.

I need to measure the room to get the dimensions. The width of the back wall and the distance from the back wall to the edge of the closet.

Room Dimensions
Back Wall96½"
Wall to Closet68¼"
Left Side of Window31½"
Right Side of Window17¼"

Modules

It obviously cannot be one piece. I have to be able to move it in and out of the room. I think I will make it three pieces. Two identical (or at least symmetrical) tables for the left and the right, and a "leaf" in the center that connects them. The center can actually be a cabinet with shelves where networking gear will go.

Tables

The left and right tables will be just that, flat tables with cantilevered legs on both sides. The fronts need not actually be curved, but instead they should be sort of a wide V, maybe 135° from each other. At the end of the table that mates with the center cabinet,

Center Cabinet

This will be a cabinet that stands between the two tables. It will hold networking gear (DSL modem, router+switch). Ideally, it will also have a place for a printer and a flatbed scanner. Perhaps there will even be room for a big UPS.
