Truman State Park
Truman State Park was one of the Missouri managed hunts for firearms, but it won't be this year. The trip is more than 3½ hours each way, and I don't know where we would stay. However, the area is a penninsula in Truman Reservoir, so it would be difficult to get lost while we are there. I should plan a weekend camping trip to the area sometime and check it out.
In addition to the MO State Park, I believe there may be other public lands in this area. The Army Corps of Engineers certainly has land here. If hunting is allowed in these areas, they may be plenty of opportunity here.
Lodging
I wonder if my dad would let us borrow his pop-up camper. That would be the cheapest and most convenient way to stay on-site for the hunt. I wonder if camping is even open during that time of year.
Otherwise, we would have to stay in a hotel nearby. I wonder what is close and affordable.
