Deer Hunting

This year, I will hunt again in Missouri. I think I will try my hand at bow hunting, which should open up a lot more opportunities to me.

Buckshot

In Arkansas, it is legal to hunt deer with buckshot. This is a reasonable choice when hunting with dogs, which is also legal in Arkansas. Carlos insists that I want loads of 00 buckshot which have 15 pellets. Winchester Supreme X12XC3B5 seems to be the most appealing; they are sold as "Double X Magnum" copper plated lead. They were hard to find for a while, but they started to appear at Dunn's and Cabela's.

Contrary to conventional wisdom, Carlos recommends that I use a full choke tube with the buckshot. I patterned this combination, and indeed it produces good results out to about 50 yards.
