Boat for Hunting
I am thinking about getting a boat that I can use to access hunting lands. I would use this without a motor to cross the chute at Howell Island and to float into Pacific Palisades. I am giving up on a motor and a square stern, and am looking for a smaller, lighter craft.
- Predator C133
- This is a fairly traditional 13 foot canoe, with a 40" wide flat bottom. It weighs 78 pounds and has a carrying yoke. It can hold 1300 pounds. That's plenty of capacity for two people, dogs, and harvested deer. It might be safe on the Missouri River, but I don't know about whether I could keep up with the current.
Polyethylene is heavy, and there are lighter materials out there like Royalex. Also, 40" is wide and will make it more difficult to paddle through the water. I should look for a slimmer, lighter canoe. I can give up some cargo capacity.
